How to view Instagram Stories anonymously
To view Instagram Stories anonymously, enter the account's username above, press Download and open the STORIES tab. Nothing on the way asks you to sign in, so your name doesn't reach the author's viewers list.

Enter the username or profile link
Type the username, with or without the @, or paste the profile link: in the Instagram app it sits under the three dots on the profile, Copy profile URL. Then press Download.

Open the public profile
iGram finds the account and opens its profile header with the name and profile picture. Stories of a private account stay closed.

Below the header, the STORIES tab holds everything the account posted in the last 24 hours: to keep a story, press Download under it. HIGHLIGHTS holds the stories the author pinned to the profile.

Video stories keep their sound, and stickers and text stay where the author placed them. A photo story is a still JPG image, so it has no sound.
Why the author does not see you in the viewers list
Instagram builds the viewers list from accounts that opened the story while logged in. iGram requests the public story from its own servers without your account, so there is no login of yours anywhere in that chain and nothing for Instagram to add to the list.
That is anonymity in a narrow and exact sense: the author can't tell that you watched. It holds for public accounts only. A private account shows its Stories to approved followers, and iGram can't open them at all.
In one line: you don't log in to Instagram, so your account doesn't appear in the viewers list.

Every way of watching a story unseen costs something: your login, your password or the author's trust. A viewer with no login is the one method where no account of yours takes part, and its price is that it opens public accounts only.

Airplane mode and a second account still send the view through an Instagram account, so the author gets a name in the list, just not always yours. An online story viewer skips the account entirely.
What an anonymous story viewer cannot do
iGram sees an account the way a visitor without a login does. Whatever that visitor can't see stays hidden here too.
- Private accounts. Their Stories stay closed, and no website can open them. Treat any “private Instagram viewer” that promises otherwise as a scam, especially if it asks for your login. What does work for anonymous viewing.
- Stories not shared with everyone. iGram shows only public accounts and the Stories they open to all visitors.
- Stories older than 24 hours. An expired story is gone unless the author pinned it to a highlight. Pinned stories open on the Instagram highlight downloader page.
- Deleted and archived Stories. A story the author deleted or kept only in their archive is no longer public, so iGram can't show it.
- Instagram Live and Notes. Live broadcasts and Notes aren't Stories, and the viewer doesn't show them.
- Who watched a story. iGram shows Stories, not the people who viewed them. How Instagram orders the viewer list is a separate question.
- A profile that doesn't open. Check the username for a typo. An account that no longer exists doesn't open either.

Is it safe and legal to use an Instagram story viewer?
You don't give iGram a password, sign in to anything or install an app: the ig story viewer works in the browser you already have. iGram doesn't store the files you download on its servers. What data the site collects is described in the privacy policy.
Public Stories are posted for anyone to see, and watching them isn't against the law. Reposting someone else's story or using it commercially is a different matter: ask the author first.
